The simplest and most reliable way to adjust compressor pressure is to use a mechanical pressure switch (pressure/pressure switch) or the druk switch known in the market (“druck” means pressure in German). The main purpose of the druk switch is to stop the compressor when the tank pressure reaches the desired level and to restart it when the pressure falls below the specified value.
The operating principle of the pressure switch is extremely simple. Air pressure opposes a spring force whose tension is adjusted with the help of the diaphragm. When the pressure overcomes the spring force, the circuit opens and the compressor stops. As the pressure drops, the force exerted by the diaphragm weakens, and when it falls below a certain value, the spring force prevails, closing the circuit and the compressor starts working again.

The static switch setting is extremely simple. The desired pressure is set with the tension of the spring described above. To do this, you need to compress the spring to the pressure marked on the pressure switch.

The Danfoss pressure switch in the picture can be set up to a cut-off pressure of 42 bar. To do this, the screw on the top of the switch is tightened to the desired pressure. After adjusting the upper pressure, the differential pressure adjustment screw on the right is used to adjust the pressure at which the compressor will start. For example, if you want the compressor to stop at 42 bar and start at 38 bar, you should set the differential pressure indicator to 4 bar. Quality pressure sensors have a safety nut to prevent the setting from being disturbed by vibration.

The pressure switch must be installed properly and the electrical connection must be made by an expert electrician. Static switches that have been used for a long time and are worn out must be checked at regular intervals with the help of manometers and replaced if there is an inconsistency in the pressure settings.
